Hi, I'm Lakeland

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who deeply values the art of play and the beauty of childhood. My own experience of childhood grief and deep love for humanity led me into this field, and to say I am grateful to be here would be an understatement.

My career began as a child and adolescent therapist for those who have experienced child sexual abuse. I worked alongside many families in creative, playful, and sensitive ways to address the aftermath of childhood traumatic experiences, and I still find myself carrying so much of the wisdom gained from that work into my work and play today. After moving to Seattle, I joined an incredible group practice where I expanded my knowledge of neuroaffirming care, anxiety disorders, childhood grief and bereavement and continue to support a mosaic of all those presenting challenges today at Lake Counseling. I built Lake Counseling to be a haven of joy, attunement, and care, and strive for those values to shine through the space I've created that we will enter into together.

As a late-diagnosed ADHDer, I value the importance of supporting those who have brains who function differently than the cultural norm or expectation. I transplanted to The Pacific Northwest from Atlanta during the thralls of the pandemic and I feel so grateful to live on such beautiful land. My spouse and I live in Seattle with our two persian cats, who make telehealth appearances from time to time. I am a reader, cat lady, baker, speciality coffee lover, and self-proclaimed hobby hopper.
